Le Basque, located at 15 Union Square W in New York, has established itself as a premier Basque restaurant that redefines vegan cuisine. Guests are consistently wowed by the impeccable service and the exquisite menu designed by Chef Guy, which showcases a range of beautifully presented dishes. Reviewers like Nathaniel Wu rave about the celebratory atmosphere—perfect for birthdays and anniversaries—while savoring dishes that make them forget they are dining vegan.
Patrons have singled out the cheese plate and beef bourguignon as must-tries, with many stating that the flavors and textures transcend traditional expectations of vegan fare. Highlights include the salmon starter paired with caviar, and a variety of pintxos that encourage sharing and exploration. The ambience captures a romantic elegance, appealing to both vegans and meat-eaters alike, as evidenced by Kaitlynn Gill's enthusiastic comparison to famed establishments like Eleven Madison Park.
Combine all this with delightful drink options—both alcoholic and mocktails—and you have an experience that delights the senses. Le Basque is not just a meal; it is an enlightening culinary journey that challenges perceptions of plant-based dining. A true hidden gem for any food lover!

Recently went for a friend's birthday dinner and we received absolutely impeccable service! The staff was super accommodating to our birthday brunch needs and the food was more than delicious. I feel like there's often a stigma about vegan cuisine but the food here was so good it was easy to forget the entire menu is vegan friendly! Drinks were strong too, but don't worry there are good mocktails for those who don't consume alcohol. Would 100 come back for another brunch!

This was the most amazing anniversary dinner we've ever had! Johnny? Ronnie? Great service, the drinks were so good the name eludes me! Food was very well made and presented. We felt the experience and food were the stars and we were encouraged to experience it all at our pace. Loved everything, Chef Guy is amazing. We also had willow and beyond sushi during our visit, nailed it! My wife is a vegan chef and had no complaints in the slightest about anything, 10/10

What is food? Le Basque understands. Great food tastes good. Excellent food engages the senses. An experience at Le Basque will generate lasting memories through all the ways you experience the world. The music and atmosphere is fantastic, the presentation of the dishes visually stunning, the aromas alluring, the textures surreal and exciting, and the tastes of course delectable. The service was also top-notch. I love the taste and texture of meat. I often look for vegan food that simulates this well, so naturally, I was drawn to order the lamb and salmon dishes, among others. What I got instead was a realization that vegan food can be better. Mimicry may be an inspiration, but the art is the license taken to explore beyond the constraints of flesh. The control and craftsmanship of this food is an affront to nature, a mockery to the eons of evolution that went into creation, the likes of humans using airplanes to fly like birds. After gobbling down an incredible cheese plate, we opted for a pintxos-centered experience by ordering from that section of the menu. It was a great idea to try a lot of things, and perfect for two people. I will remember the concert played upon my senses for a long while. However, I hope my next pilgrimage to Le Basque occurs far before such a time.

Wow, wow, wow. Absolutely top 3 vegan restaurants I’ve been to, and I’ve been to MANY over the last 10 years all over the world. The ambience, amazing. The service, incredible. The food, DEVINE. I ordered the cheese plate, salmon starter, and beef bourguignon. The cheese plate was the best cheese I’ve ever had. The egg with the caviar and salmon was insane. The beef bourguignon was CRAZY! They need to do a rendition of this as a corned beef and hash. I’ve been to Eleven Madison Park several times and I have to say this is better. Go here, if you don’t you’ll be missing out. And yes, this review comes from a long time vegan, but, my husband is a meat eater and seasoned vegan food eater and he was licking the plate. Don’t skip this spot.

Our dinner here was an extraordinary experience! As a vegan of over 14 years, I have never had such a fantastic dinner experience. This is definitely a spot to take any lover of fine dining: Exquisite menu, wonderful service, reasonable prices, romantic and stylish setting. We loved everything!

Had an amazing dinner at Le Basque in NYC — this place really impressed us. The food was delicious and super creative. You can tell a lot of thought and care goes into how they work with plants — every dish looked great and tasted even better. It’s one of those spots that reminds you how exciting plant-based food can be. The service made the night even better. Our server, Will, was incredibly attentive and informative — he took the time to explain the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. It honestly felt like a five-star experience, but still warm and welcoming. Big thanks also to Russell, the manager, who helped with our reservation and made us feel welcome right away. He even took photos for us before we left — a thoughtful gesture that really rounded out the evening. It’s clear he takes pride in making sure diners have a great experience from start to finish. Le Basque isn’t just a place with great food — it’s an eloquent dining experience, led by people who truly care. Grateful for the evening and already looking forward to coming back.

We were so satisfied! The creativity of vegan food shows the skills of the chefs. Well balanced and perfect blend of textures and flavors. The menu was just right and portions to share were the right amount. I don’t think you can order anything wrong here. We only chose one thing from the pintxos, starters, entree and dessert between two people and it was just right! To be honest I need to come back to try the escargot and flank steak. And all of the pintxos if possible. The dessert sealed the whole experience. We even saw a two people dancing to every bite of their dessert. Yes, 5 out of 5. I hope the vegan world expands and create ripples to challenge others so that we can continue to eat well and thrive with every bite! I’m happy to see this happening in nyc!

What an incredible space! The ceiling and centerpiece upstairs were gorgeous for brunch. And lovely, friendly service. But the food is mind boggling. How does the lentil "faux" gras pate get such rich flavor and smooth texture? The steak croissant on the brunch menu is just... An incredible rendition. Great flavors across the board and we loved being there for the brunch menu and also being able to order off the dinner menu.
